The Ghanaian “Rap King” reaffirms his position as an industry top player with this rap/afrobeats track, that is sure to bring hip-hop fans and dancefloor regulars together.
According to Google, “Fugazy” is a slang word referring to something fake or damaged beyond repair. It is then clearly not something that one would associate with an artist like Sarkodie. At the top of the West African rap scene for many years now, he has managed to keep his focus, to build a loyal following of die-hard fans, and to raise a music, cellphone and banking empire. The rapper evokes these many successes on this danceable and light track, produced by Rexxie, beatmaker known for his collaborations with Nigerian rapper Naira Marley. All the signs of success are present in the visual and described in the rapper’s fierce verses: designer clothes, Lamborghini, gold jewelry…
It is not surprising that Sarkodie sounds so confident and casual on “No Fugazy”: indeed, the track is the first single of No Pressure, the rapper’s upcoming album scheduled on July 9. The project will be his 7th studio album, and will follow Black Love which had made him win the title of artist of the decade at the Vodafone Ghana Music Award, and had nominated him for the prestigious BET Awards. Obviously not enough to pressure the rapper, who already appears very relaxed on the album’s cover.
No Pressure available on July 9.
